This is called “Candi Bentar” and it’s one of the typical split-gates of the area.
It is situated in the south-centre of the island of Bali, near Mengwi, in Indonesia.
It is 16 meters high, and it marks the entrance to the Pura Sadha Kapal temple, destroyed in an earthquake in 1917. Then it was rebuilt, but the gate was the only thing remaining.
The totally symmetrical doors are designed this way in order to scare away evil spirits, so that they think it is one door and that they are not able to cross.
