Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Body Dysmorphic Disorder or BDD is a type of mental disorder in which a person is obsessed with their physical appearance.

The perhaps clearer name dysmorphophobia is also used, meaning ‘fear of having a deformity’ (from ancient Greek ‘phobos’ = fear, ‘morph’ = shape, form, ‘dys’ = malfunctioning, difficult).

People with body dysmorphic disorder see themselves unattractive and they are unsatisfied with their body or with some part of their physical appearance, and they take that feeling to an obsessive level, where they almost cannot think of anything else and they are afraid to be seen because of the imaginary or exaggerated imperfection in their body.

Obviously that created a constant worry and anxiety which affects all other aspects of their life.
